Young and young-at-heart working together to get the layout ready for the show. Asher, in the foreground, is now a bonafide member of the club. He was there all day, helped with set-up, ran trains throughout the day, and still had energy left at the end of the day to play tag with the photographer!
Don (left, inside layout) is flipping the turnouts so that Rusty (front, right) can pull his Daylight passenger train, pulled by a shiny American Models PA A-B-A set.
Show turnout was pretty good. There were a few moments where it was quiet enough to go out and take some pictures of the layout. New for this show was Bob's new backdrops, enough (almost) for the entire ten-module set-up we have here. A minor miscalculation left us with a two-foot gap on this side of the layout. He started painting clouds on some of the ones on the other side of the layout. More to come.
This is the view from outside the building in which the layout was set up. It was in the low 80s, which made it a bit toasty in the building, but the strong breeze outside made it nice to cool off a bit.
Bob brought out his Downs Model Railroad Co. tank train, being pulled by a River Raisin SD9.
Once Rusty's passenger train had completed its run, it was time to back it into the passenger station tracks. Unfortunately, one of the passenger cars derailed on the turnout. An interested group had formed to view the spectacle, while Howard works at rerailing the car.
Inside the building where our layout was set up, you will find this Fairmont speeder.
It also houses other track maintenance equipment.
One last photo of our crew still laboring at rerailing the passenger car.
